The FIVE Tribe

Daily Wins recognizes the most impactful sustainability initiatives taken by our FIVE Tribe through FIVE’s Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R) Programme.

These Inspiring ‘FIVERs’ take Creative and Impactful actions to advance FIVE’s sustainability vision through every aspect of its operations. They embrace eco-consciousness in their jobs, securing daily wins for FIVE that impact cost, culture and environment.

Subhair Anjillath, Steward, FIVE Palm Jumeirah

“I drive the success of No-Bin Day every week by managing the clearance area, raising awareness among colleagues about the initiative, and encouraging mindful consumption. By tracking food waste for our Programme Post-Reports, I go above and beyond to uphold our zero-waste ethos. Thanks to these collective efforts, we consistently achieve less than 2kg of food waste across both lunch and dinner on programme days.”

“In alignment with our green procurement strategies, I collaborated with all FIVE Hotels and Resorts‘ In-Room Dining managers to adopt 100% recycled paper for our In-Room Dining menus. The paper is chlorine-free, FSC-certified, responsibly sourced and cheaper while maintaining the high-quality experience our guests expect.”

“I co-lead team briefings on sustainability, recycling, and reusing ingredients to avoid waste. I also make sure we power-down the venue every night, use ice more efficiently, and order in smaller batches to avoid spoilage. I created a Goose Island Tap House Sustainability Manual to document our collective efforts.”

“I conducted a housing reallocation programme to optimise unit occupancy, eliminating partially filled units that led to unnecessary energy consumption in electricity and air conditioning. This strategic initiative resulted in AED 20,000 in monthly savings while maintaining stable occupancy levels. I conducted the same analysis at another accommodation to ensure seasonal factors did not influence the results.”

“I created a dedicated Sustainability Bulletin Board outside the FIVE LUXE ‘FIVER’ Cafeteria, posting FIVE Hotels and Resorts’ sustainability awareness and training materials. I am responsible for maintaining this space to create a sustainability culture with our Tribe and liaise with the Sustainability Department on programmes.”
